ControlUp Launches DaaS IQ to Reduce Costs and Simplify Azure Virtual Desktop Management
ControlUp has launched DaaS IQ, a new management platform designed to help organizations optimize costs and simplify operations for Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) environments, particularly Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
As more organizations adopt cloud-based virtual desktop environments to support remote and hybrid work, many IT teams are facing challenges such as rising cloud costs, fragmented management tools, and complex infrastructure management. ControlUp said DaaS IQ is designed to solve these problems by providing a single intelligent control platform that automates operations, optimizes resource usage, and improves end-user experience.
The DaaS IQ platform combines lifecycle management, cost optimization, and operational monitoring into a centralized dashboard. This allows IT teams to monitor system health, usage, and costs across their entire virtual desktop environment without switching between multiple tools such as Azure Portal, Intune, and custom scripts.
One of the key features of the platform is intelligent autoscaling, which automatically adjusts computing resources based on real-time demand. This helps organizations reduce cloud costs by minimizing idle resources during low-usage periods while ensuring sufficient capacity during peak usage times.
The platform also includes host lifecycle management, image management for virtual desktop environments, activity tracking, and centralized visibility across the entire DaaS infrastructure. These features help reduce administrative workload, prevent configuration errors, and improve system performance.
ControlUp said the platform also helps IT and FinOps teams track cloud spending and identify areas where resources are being overused or underutilized, enabling better cost control and budgeting.
In addition to cost optimization, the platform focuses on improving the digital employee experience by ensuring consistent performance for users accessing virtual desktops. The system uses automation, monitoring, and AI-driven insights to detect and resolve issues before they impact end users.
The company said DaaS IQ also supports multi-tenant environments, making it suitable for managed service providers that manage virtual desktop environments for multiple clients.
ControlUp said the launch of DaaS IQ reflects a broader shift toward automated and autonomous IT operations, where systems can monitor performance, detect issues, and resolve problems automatically, reducing the need for manual IT intervention and improving overall operational efficiency.
