GLBNXT Launches Europe’s First Sovereign AI Platform Beyond US Cloud Jurisdiction
Dutch startup GLBNXT has unveiled what it describes as Europe’s first fully sovereign AI platform, offering organizations a way to develop and deploy artificial intelligence solutions entirely within European infrastructure—beyond the reach of US cloud regulations.
Built in under a year by a four-person team, the platform enters the market at a time when concerns around data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and dependence on non-European hyperscalers are intensifying.
Addressing Europe’s AI Sovereignty Challenge
European enterprises and public institutions are increasingly navigating a complex landscape where widely used AI tools are controlled by US-based cloud providers. This dependency raises concerns around data exposure under legislation such as the US CLOUD Act, which allows US authorities to request data from American-owned cloud services regardless of where that data is stored.
At the same time, the rise of unregulated “shadow AI” usage within organizations is creating additional compliance, security, and reputational risks. With regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act, GDPR, NIS2 Directive, and the EU Data Act coming into force, organizations face mounting pressure to ensure accountability and control over AI deployments.
A Sovereign, Compliance-First Architecture
GLBNXT’s platform is designed to address these challenges at an architectural level. Operating exclusively on European and company-controlled infrastructure, it enables multi-cloud flexibility while ensuring that customer data remains within European jurisdiction.
The platform is ISO 27001 certified and built with compliance as a default feature rather than an afterthought. According to the company, this approach allows organizations to deploy production-ready AI solutions in as little as 30 days—significantly faster than the typical 12 to 18 months required for enterprise AI projects built on traditional hyperscaler environments.
By positioning itself as a full-stack foundation rather than a standalone tool, GLBNXT aims to provide enterprises with a secure base on which to build and scale their AI ecosystems.
Leadership Perspective
“Four engineers built this in less than a year. Imagine what four hundred will build in five. That is the European AI story we are writing,” said Jan Saan, co-founder of GLBNXT and former CTO of CM.com.
Co-founder Richard van Anholt emphasized the company’s differentiation from global hyperscalers: “They have more resources, but we offer something they cannot—complete assurance that customer data never leaves Europe.”
Strategic Partnerships and Growth
GLBNXT has formed strategic partnerships with Dell Technologies and NVIDIA, combining enterprise-grade infrastructure with high-performance AI capabilities.
The company has also secured a new funding round to support expansion across Europe and reports early traction among public sector organizations, consultancies, and ICT teams.
A New European Contender in AI
Founded by Jan Saan and Richard van Anholt, GLBNXT represents a new wave of AI-native startups focused on sovereignty, compliance, and independence from global cloud providers.
As regulatory demands tighten and geopolitical considerations reshape technology strategies, GLBNXT is positioning itself as a foundational platform for organizations seeking greater control over their AI infrastructure and data.
