Nmbr and Paiday Launch Embedded Payroll Model to Transform Accounting Firm Workflows

Nmbr has partnered with Paiday to introduce a new payroll model tailored specifically for accounting and bookkeeping firms in Canada.

The collaboration leverages Nmbr’s embedded payroll infrastructure to power Paiday’s platform, enabling payroll to run directly within the systems firms already use to manage their clients. The goal is to simplify payroll operations while ensuring compliance with Canadian regulations.

The partnership addresses a long-standing challenge in Canada’s payroll ecosystem, where outdated systems have struggled to keep up with modern business needs. While most payroll tools were designed for individual companies managing their own payroll, accounting firms today often handle dozens—or even hundreds—of client payrolls across multiple provinces and platforms.

According to Paiday CEO Rachel Fisch, many firms have been forced to rely on fragmented systems, manual processes, and workarounds that increase complexity and compliance risks. This can lead to issues such as incorrect T4 filings, delayed Records of Employment (ROEs), and discrepancies with Canada Revenue Agency balances.

Paiday’s solution introduces a centralized payroll hub, allowing firms to manage all client payrolls from a single interface, regardless of the underlying provider. The platform also includes a purpose-built payroll engine designed for Canadian compliance, integrations with practice management tools, and AI-driven workflows to reduce manual effort.

Nmbr CEO Simon Bourgeois emphasized that embedding payroll directly into existing software platforms represents a fundamental shift. By moving away from legacy systems, the new approach aims to deliver a more integrated and automated experience that aligns with how firms operate today.

With increasing regulatory demands and ongoing talent shortages, accounting firms are under pressure to scale their services efficiently. By streamlining workflows and reducing operational friction, the Nmbr–Paiday partnership seeks to help firms expand capacity while minimizing risk.

Together, the companies are positioning their solution as a modern, Canada-focused approach to payroll—one that reflects the realities of today’s business environment and the professionals who support it.
