Prodoscore Report Finds AI Is Creating a Performance Divide in the Workplace

Prodoscore has released new research showing that artificial intelligence is creating a measurable performance gap between employees who use AI tools regularly and those who do not.

The company’s analysis is based on anonymized behavioral data collected from more than 25,000 employees across nearly 300 organizations between January 2025 and March 2026. The study examined activity across more than 300 AI tools, including ChatGPT, Grammarly, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity, comparing productivity and engagement levels between AI users and non-users.

According to the report, AI adoption in the workplace has grown rapidly, tripling in just 14 months, while time spent using AI tools increased nearly sixfold. The data showed that employees who used AI were 19% more productive than those who did not use AI. Employees who used AI tools four or more days per week experienced productivity gains of up to 32%.

The study also found that the productivity gap between AI users and non-users is widening over time, increasing by approximately 0.85% each month, which translates to roughly a 10% performance gap annually. While about one in five employees currently use AI tools, the highest productivity gains were seen among employees who used AI consistently.

The report also showed that AI users demonstrated more consistent performance, with 31% less variation in productivity from month to month compared to non-AI users. On average, AI tools helped employees complete approximately 54 additional minutes of productive work per day, or about 4.5 hours per week, allowing employees to focus more on high-value tasks.

The research also highlighted changing trends in AI tool usage. ChatGPT remained the most widely used AI tool with a market share of 78.7%, while usage of other tools such as Claude grew significantly, increasing by more than 4,000% during the study period, indicating that employees are increasingly using multiple AI tools for different types of work.

Prodoscore’s leadership said the findings show that AI is no longer an optional productivity tool but is becoming a standard part of daily work. The company said organizations must focus on AI adoption, training, and performance measurement to ensure employees can effectively use AI tools, as AI proficiency is quickly becoming a key factor in employee performance and workplace productivity.
